SGI Windshield Claims in Saskatoon, SK
Saskatoon Prestige Windshield takes care of your SGI windshield claim in Saskatoon from start to finish. Hand us three pieces of information, we check your coverage, set the new glass and send the bill to SGI. Your deductible is the only thing you pay.

For a windshield we need your SGI customer number, your plate number and roughly when the rock hit. Both numbers are on your registration. No call to SGI first, no forms to fill in. We look up your policy and your deductible while you’re still standing in the shop.
We think paperwork shouldn’t be the customer’s problem. Plenty of people call us bracing for a claim that takes about ten minutes on our end. And once we’ve checked, the number we tell you is the number on the bill. No surprises.
Registration in the glovebox? Your customer number and plate number are both printed on it.
Coverage Check
Package policy like Auto Pak, or plate insurance only? We find out and tell you the deductible before a single tool comes out.
Windshield Replacement
New windshield, urethane, mouldings and the camera calibration on cars that have one. SGI gets the bill for everything past your deductible.
Chip Repair Claims
Most package policies cover chip fills with nothing out of pocket, up to three a year. Those claims go through us too.
Other Insurers
Some drivers carry extra coverage with a private insurer on top of SGI. We deal with them as well, though a few want a claim number before we start.
- Package policy (Auto Pak) glass deductible: $50 or $100
- Plate insurance only: $700 deductible
- Chip repair on most package policies: $0, up to 3 a year
- ADAS calibration with a covered windshield: included
- Your rates and Safety Rating: not affected by a road hazard claim
If the glass costs less than your deductible, paying yourself wins. We’ll tell you that straight.
- Coverage and deductible checked before any work
- Your claim filed with SGI for you
- SGI billed directly for the covered amount
- Calibration paperwork on camera-equipped cars
- A copy of the invoice to keep
- Free pickup and drop-off inside Saskatoon
How Much Is the SGI Deductible for a Windshield?
The SGI deductible for a windshield is $50 or $100 if you carry a package policy like Auto Pak with glass coverage, and $700 if you carry plate insurance only. SGI covers the rest of a windshield replacement in Saskatoon, including ADAS calibration, and most package policies cover chip repair with no deductible.
| Your coverage | Windshield replacement | Chip repair |
|---|---|---|
| Package policy (Auto Pak), $50 glass deductible | You pay $50 | Usually $0, up to 3 a year |
| Package policy (Auto Pak), $100 glass deductible | You pay $100 | Usually $0, up to 3 a year |
| Plate insurance only | You pay the first $700 | $70, not covered |
| No claim, paying yourself | $350 to $700 ($550 to $1,400 with ADAS) | $70 first chip |
Your deductible comes from your own policy, so dig out the renewal or let us look it up. We’ll never file a claim that leaves you paying more than cash would.
Types of SGI Glass Claims
SGI Windshield Replacement
This is the big one. A stone off a gravel or sanding truck cracks the glass past saving, we confirm your coverage, swap the windshield and aim the camera if there is one. About 60 to 90 minutes in the shop, then 1 to 2 hours before you can drive.
Chip Repair Claims
A stone chip fill is the cheapest glass claim SGI ever pays, which is exactly why most package policies cover it in full. Earlier is cheaper for everybody. The windshield chip repair page covers which chips fill.
Side and Back Glass Claims
Side and back glass take a slightly different road. SGI usually has you open an Auto eClaim online first, and then the shop does the work. Happy to talk you through it on the phone. Prices for the glass itself are on our car window replacement page.
Claims Through Other Insurers
A few drivers carry a private policy on top of SGI. Those insurers often want their own claim number before any work, so phone them first and bring the number in.
Will a Windshield Claim Raise My Rates?
Nope. A cracked windshield or a rock chip from road debris isn’t an at-fault claim, so your SGI Safety Rating, your driving record and your premiums don’t budge. The Safety Rating moves with at-fault collisions and traffic convictions, never with glass claims from flying gravel. That one surprises people more than anything else we tell them.
In our experience the people who claim chips early are the ones who never need a windshield claim at all. That’s a pattern we’ve watched for 15 years.
We hear the rate worry just about every week, often from somebody who drove all winter on a cracked windshield to dodge a claim. Last winter a fellow from Dundurn waited four months, and a chip that would have cost him nothing turned into a $100 windshield.
When Paying Yourself Makes More Sense
With plate insurance only, that $700 deductible is more than plenty of windshields cost. An older car with plain glass and no camera often comes in under it, so cash is cheaper. On a 2020 SUV with a camera and a heated wiper park area (the warm strip that keeps wipers from freezing down), glass plus calibration can top $1,000, and the claim pays off.
- Claim it: if you have a package policy. Nearly every time.
- Claim it: plate-only drivers in a newer car with a camera.
- Pay cash: plate-only drivers with an older, basic windshield under $700.
- Ask us: anything in the grey zone. We’ll work out both numbers in about 5 minutes.
Folks from Osler and up the Highway 11 corridor tend to bring the registration on the first visit, so we can check coverage right there.
How do I make an SGI windshield claim?
Bring three things to the glass shop: your SGI customer number, your plate number and the date of the damage. The shop checks your coverage, files the SGI windshield claim and bills SGI directly. You don’t have to phone SGI first, and you only pay your deductible.
What is the SGI deductible for a windshield?
The SGI deductible for a windshield is $50 or $100 on most package policies like Auto Pak, and $700 on plate insurance alone. The rest of the replacement, including calibration on camera-equipped vehicles, is billed to SGI. Your exact deductible is printed on your policy renewal.
Does SGI cover windshield chip repair?
Yes, most SGI package policies cover windshield chip repair with no deductible, usually up to three chips a year. Plate insurance on its own doesn’t cover chips, so the repair is $70 for the first one. Filling a chip early also keeps you out of a full windshield claim later.
Will an SGI glass claim affect my Safety Rating?
No. A windshield or chip claim from a rock on the road counts as a road hazard, not an at-fault claim. Your SGI Safety Rating, your driving record and next year’s premium all stay where they were. At-fault collisions and traffic convictions are what move the rating.
How long does an SGI windshield replacement take?
Plan on 60 to 90 minutes in the shop for an SGI windshield replacement, then 1 to 2 hours before it’s safe to drive while the urethane sets. The claim itself takes about ten minutes. Add up to an hour if your car has a camera that needs calibrating.
A few words from drivers we have set glass for this year.
Gravel truck got me on Highway 11 and the crack was across the whole windshield by morning. They filed the SGI claim, I paid my $100 and had the truck back before lunch. No mess inside, no whistle on the highway.
Kyle D.WarmanPickup windshield My SUV has the lane camera and the dealer wanted a week. Prestige did the windshield and the calibration the same afternoon and showed me the printout. The lane assist works like it did before.
Priya S.StonebridgeWindshield and calibration Had a chip the size of a dime. They filled it in about twenty minutes and it cost me nothing with my package policy. Honest enough to say I did not need a new windshield.
Marlene T.WillowgroveChip repair Someone smashed my passenger window downtown. They picked the car up from my work, replaced the glass, vacuumed every bit out of the door and dropped it back by four. Fair price.
