Osler Glass Jobs We See Most

Osler is a small town with farms and acreages all around it, so a lot of what we see is half-tons and three-quarter tons that live half their life on gravel. Grid roads chip glass fast. And a pickup windshield is a big sheet to replace, which is why we push early chip fills so hard with our Osler regulars.

  • Chips from gravel grid roads, see windshield chip repair
  • Pickup and work truck windshields, see truck windshield replacement
  • Back slider glass broken by a load shifting in the box
  • Cracks that start at the edge after a hard frost
  • SGI glass claims started at drop-off

Harvest Is Hard on Glass

Late August through October, Highway 11 fills with grain trucks, and that’s when Osler chips pile up. If you can, get the chip filled the week it happens instead of waiting till the combines are put away.

Need the truck back for the field? Say so when you book. We’ll put it first in line that morning.

Highway 11 North of Saskatoon

About 1,250 people call Osler home, roughly 20 km up the highway from the city. The town started as a railway stop in the 1890s and it still looks out over fields in every direction. Most families head into Saskatoon a few times a week for work, school or groceries.

The province twinned Highway 11 from Warman past Osler in 2008, then on toward Hague that fall. Passing got safer. The rocks didn’t stop. No word of a lie, we have Osler regulars who come in twice a year, once after seeding and once after harvest.

Once you leave the pavement it’s gravel grid roads to the acreages and fields, and every time two vehicles meet, stones fly. The old farmer’s habit works best: lift a finger off the wheel, slow right down, and let the truck pass.

Types of Auto Glass Work We Do for Osler Drivers

Pickup and Truck Windshields

A half-ton windshield is a big piece of laminated glass, and many newer trucks carry a camera, a rain sensor and a heated wiper area in it. We match the glass to your exact build so every bracket lines up. Most truck windshields take about 90 minutes, plus calibration if there’s a camera.

Rock Chip Repair

We can usually fill a chip smaller than a loonie as long as it isn’t right in front of the driver. Resin goes in under pressure and a UV lamp sets it in minutes. Last fall we did 14 chips on Osler trucks in one week. Most package policies cover three a year at no charge.

Back Sliders and Door Glass

When the back slider or a door window goes, it’s tempered glass, so it drops into a heap of cubes like a tray of ice on the kitchen floor. We vacuum the whole cab, fit new glass and test the defroster grid and the power slider. Our car window replacement page has the prices.

Calibration After New Glass

Newer trucks lean on a forward-facing camera for lane keeping and automatic emergency braking, and it looks through the windshield. Once the glass is swapped we run a static calibration in the shop, printed target and scan tool, then take it for a short drive to be sure.

How Much Does Windshield Replacement Cost in Osler?

For Osler drivers, windshield replacement costs $350 to $700 out of pocket for most cars in 2026, and $550 to $1,400 for trucks and SUVs with a camera to calibrate. On an SGI Auto Pak you usually pay a $50 or $100 glass deductible. Plate-only coverage has a $700 deductible.

Why We Set Glass Indoors in Winter

Urethane adhesive cures with heat and moisture. Out in a farmyard at minus 25, it can take hours longer to reach safe strength, and the bond isn’t as reliable. That’s why every install happens in our heated shop, where the glass, the glue and the truck all sit at room temperature.

We think of it like letting a fresh flood set on the rink before anyone skates. Rush it and the ice is ruined. Same with the bead under your windshield. You get the safe drive-away time on the work order, usually 1 to 2 hours.

Booking From Osler

Our hours are Monday to Friday, 8 to 4:30, and Saturday by appointment. Free pickup and drop-off is inside Saskatoon only, so Osler customers drive in, about 25 minutes. Bring your SGI customer number and plate number and we’ll start the claim at the desk.

Every installation has our lifetime warranty against leaks and wind noise. Live closer to the Martensville side? We work on plenty of Dalmeny vehicles too.

Osler Windshield Replacement FAQ

How long will my truck be in the shop?

Plan on about three hours for a pickup windshield with a camera. The install takes about 90 minutes, calibration about an hour, and the urethane needs time to cure before you drive. Without a camera it’s closer to two hours. Tell us if you need it back for chores.

Can a chip from a grid road be repaired?

Usually, if it’s smaller than a loonie, not at the edge and not right in front of the driver. Gravel chips are often clean bullseyes, which fill well. Bring it in within a week if you can. The first chip is $70, and most package policies cover it fully.

Do you replace the back slider window on a pickup?

Yes. We replace manual and power sliders, including heated ones with a defroster grid. Some sliders need to be ordered, so send your year, make and model first. Out of pocket it’s usually $350 to $800, depending on the truck and the heater.

Is it legal to drive with a cracked windshield in Saskatchewan?

A crack that blocks the driver’s view can get you a ticket under the province’s vehicle equipment rules, and it weakens the glass. Small chips outside the wiper path are usually fine for a while. If the crack is in front of the driver, book a replacement soon.
